Hogs Mixed on Wednesday

Lean hog futures are showing mixed action at midday with front months within 15 cents of unchanged. USDA’s national base hog price from Wednesday morning was reported at $98.06. The CME Lean Hog Index was down another 60 cents on October 6 at $101.42. 

USDA’s FOB plant report showed the pork cutout down 77 cents on Wednesday morning at $105.26 per cwt. The ham, loin, and butt primals were reported lower. USDA estimated federally inspected hog slaughter at 488,000 head for Tuesday, taking the week’s total to 979,000 head. That is 13,000 head above last week and 21,672 head larger than the same week last year.

Dec 25 Hogs  are at $86.325, up $0.150

Feb 26 Hogs  is at $88.125, down $0.150,
